Local Advocates for Sustainable Sandy Beaches
OUR MISSION
SAVE OCEANSIDE SAND is a group of local advocates working together to restore sustainable, sandy beaches in Oceanside California. Working with local, regional, state, and federal authorities, we encourage the City of Oceanside to design, approve and fund a sustainable and permanent solution to restore our beaches and protect the coastal habitat.
Issues We Advocate For
Environment
The water and sand flow have been significantly disrupted by construction done along river banks and river mouths.
Tourism
The economic impact to Oceanside (and all of San Diego County) due to the loss of tourism will create a great loss of jobs and tax revenue.
Safety
There is a lack of public safety access for lifeguards and firefighters, with no sand on the beach.
Public Access
If there is no sand on the beach, then you either have to sit on the rocks or be in the water.
Habitat
Oceanside coastal ecosystems are disappearing. We are experiencing a significant disappearance of birds, fish, sand crabs.
Infrastructure
Public and private property are experiencing significant damage along the Oceanside coastline from severe winter storms.

Save Oceanside Sand is dedicated to restoring and protecting Oceanside beaches. We believe in beach preservation, beach safety, rebuilding our shorelines, and beach access for all people. Sand is a precious commodity. As it goes missing, we won’t let it go unnoticed.
